I just changed the batteries on my non-programmable Carrier

Customer Question

I just changed the batteries on my non-programmable Carrier thermostat. When I popped the front off one wire broke on the wall terminal. I reinserted the wire in the opening but when I replace the front panel, still nothing. Blank.
JA: Just to clarify, do you think this is a larger HVAC problem, or something specific to the thermostat?
Customer: It was working fine before I took the front panel off. The battery symbol was illuminated on the front so I thought I would just change the AA batteries. Now totally dead.
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: If there was something I could do, I would. I assumed I would need to call an HVAC guy and get thermostat replaced.
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: Not really. You know how it is with electronics, you can't just open things up and see a broken part.

Which wire broke and did it touch any other wires? If so look in furnace for a small 3 or 5 amp cart type fuse to see if blown
