Replaced non programmable with programmable. Turned furnace

Customer Question

Replaced non programmable with programmable. Turned furnace power back on but furnace soesnt run. Replaced old thermostat to original wiring but furnace still doesn't run?
JA: Just to clarify, do you think this is a larger HVAC problem, or something specific to the thermostat?
Customer: Thermostat wired as coded and same for old one which worked fine. Reset button to restart furnace after power restored?
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: Yes if easy
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?

Expert:  BillyHvac replied 4 months ago.

that looks like an air condition coil number. I need the furnace

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Any response to question?
Expert:  BillyHvac replied 4 months ago.

I answered....you gave a ac coil number not a furnace number...I need the furnace model before I can answer...I also asked if the furnace was turned off before wiring.

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Furnace turned off before any wire changes. Looking for a different model number.
Customer: replied 4 months ago.
new home, new furnace. All I can find is 95T and 95SMX series
Expert:  BillyHvac replied 4 months ago.

thank you, ***** ***** please remove the top and bottom door?...I am going to send you a pic of what we need to do

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Doors have been taken off.
Expert:  BillyHvac replied 4 months ago.

great...now the furnace...does it say Rheem, Ruud or Bryant on the the front?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
ruud
Expert:  BillyHvac replied 4 months ago.

Thank you

in the bottom is a circuit board on the front of the blower...do you see this board?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Expert:  BillyHvac replied 4 months ago.

there is a 3 amp fuse on the board see HERE

Expert:  BillyHvac replied 4 months ago.

we need to see if that fuse is blown. It is purple with a 3 on it...looks like a car fuse

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Expert:  BillyHvac replied 4 months ago.

Is it blown?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
looks fine?
Expert:  BillyHvac replied 4 months ago.

Looking in the side window of the fuse...is the tiny element intact? or can you post a pic?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
still good
Expert:  BillyHvac replied 4 months ago.

thank you,

now put fuse back in...tap down the pop out door switch that pops out when the bottom door is removed.

Then turn power on and tell me what the light on the circuit board does

Expert:  BillyHvac replied 4 months ago.

there should be a code flashed in a window

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
No light on circuit board?
Expert:  BillyHvac replied 4 months ago.

If no light...

is the pop out switch taped down right now...see here

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
No, I can push it in and hear a slight humming sound
Expert:  BillyHvac replied 4 months ago.

tape it down...

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
done
Expert:  BillyHvac replied 4 months ago.

now with thermostat to heat and turned up does anything light up on board

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
No light
Expert:  BillyHvac replied 4 months ago.

Then the issue is with that fuse or with the furnace transformer.

Here is just a sample of what happens on the board if trouble...see here

Either that fuse is indeed bad or the transformer...I will opt out to the others to have look also.

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Thanks, ***** ***** look elsewhere. I can follow up with what I find when it is corrected. Sorry to waste our time.

We would need a meter to troubleshoot. If you have a meter let me know .If not you can get an inexpensive one at Walmart for about 15 bucks if you would like to troubleshoot and I would be happy to guide you.
