Welcome to Just Answer, my name is ***** ***** I will do my best to help you with your

issue. First I’ll need some more info so I have a more complete picture of you situation.

Are you referring to the red lights on the controller? if so is the POWER light on? do you know the model number of the boiler?

Customer: replied 7 days ago.
the controller lights.
Expert:  Rick replied 7 days ago.

Ok, is the POWER light ON? what is the model number of the boiler (it's on the rating tag)?

Customer: replied 7 days ago.
The model is well McLain gold gv
Expert:  Rick replied 7 days ago.

Is the POWER light on? on the control

Customer: replied 7 days ago.
green power light is on.
Expert:  Rick replied 7 days ago.

OK, how many thermostats do you have?

Customer: replied 7 days ago.
One thermostat per a household.
Expert:  Rick replied 7 days ago.

Is ther more than 1 household on this boiler?

Customer: replied 7 days ago.
No.
Customer: replied 7 days ago.
Honeywell boiler control norton
model # 271
Expert:  Rick replied 7 days ago.

Ok, so only 1 thermostat/1 zone on this boiler/system. We can do some trouble shooting if you're up for it. The first thing to do is to connect the wires on the R & W terminals on the thermostat together. Turn the power off to the boiler first then turn the power bak on once the wires are connected. When you do does the boiler respond?

Customer: replied 7 days ago.
OK so not sure which is the power switch to the boiler?
Customer: replied 7 days ago.
now the red purge light is flashing along with the green sold light if that helps any.
Expert:  Rick replied 7 days ago.

Ok, the purge light wasn't flashing before? does it stop flashing after a few minutes and stay on solid?

Customer: replied 7 days ago.
purge light is still flashing red and no it was not on before. But I held down the black button to off mode on the gas controller and then turned it to on mode
Expert:  Rick replied 7 days ago.

Ok a flashing purge light indicates a problem with the draft. Is the draft inducer fan running?

Customer: replied 7 days ago.
Nothing is running no.
Expert:  Rick replied 7 days ago.

Ok, do you have a multi-meter so we can check voltage?

Customer: replied 7 days ago.
No I don't think so.
Customer: replied 7 days ago.
I don't have a that.
Expert:  Rick replied 7 days ago.

Ok, then you'll need to call a plumber to check this out. The most likely culprits are a bad fan motor or a bad control. All you can do now is check the connections between the fan and the controller. Turn the power off before you do .

Customer: replied 7 days ago.
Which button or switch is the power ??
Expert:  Rick replied 7 days ago.

There should be a service switch (like a light switch) on the side of the boiler, sometimes overhead. If you don't have one you'll have to turn off the breaker.

Customer: replied 7 days ago.
Ok so I turned it off the power to the boiler.
Customer: replied 7 days ago.
What's next??
Expert:  Rick replied 7 days ago.

Now check the connections between the draft fan (the exhaust pipe is connected to it) and the controller. Unplug the connectors then plug them back in

Customer: replied 7 days ago.
Ok I don't really know which connectors u are talking about?
Expert:  Rick replied 7 days ago.

There is a wire connected to the fan. Any connectors on that wire need to be taken apart and put back together. This is a long shot anyway.

Expert:  Rick replied 7 days ago.

Do you have more questions?

Customer: replied 7 days ago.
No. But I don't believe u helped me!!
Expert:  Rick replied 7 days ago.

I didn't help?!? I walked you through all the trouble shooting steps you could do. I can't fix it for you. I also narrowed down the likely culprits so when you call a pro you'll know what needs to be fixed so you'll be better able to avoid getting ripped off. That's pretty signifcant help.
