If you have a heat pump, you are going to need a two stage heat, one stage cool thermostat with COOL/HEAT/and EMER HEAT as system selector.

The Honeywell RTH6350 is an excellent choice.

Sorry it took so long getting back to you but I ended up having to catch a flight to Michigan to see about my mom. The system is a 5ton air handler with AC and a 20K heat kit. What type tstat should be used so that it stages in properly? Thanks for your help and patience. I will rate your service as soon as we are done.

The RTH6350 I mentioned is a great choice. If you can provide model on both air handler and outdoor unit I will be happy to guide you in wiring the thermostat
