when the thermostat is set emer is is okay to run
JA: I'll do all I can to help. How long have you been dealing with this?
Customer: my wife say t gets warmer quicker than when I have it on the air conditioner cycle
JA: Did you double-check the thermostat's settings? And what about the filters?
Customer: new filters but does it hurt the furnace to run it on emer
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?

JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: I think it uses less power when it is on the air cycle

Your unit will get warm quicker in emergency mode, but it is much more economical to run in heat pump mode.

When in Heat pump mode, we are heating house a bit slower, but at an amp draw of about 20 amps or less. With the emergency heat we heat quicker, but draw anywhere from 44 to 84 amps depending on how many KW you have.
