I have a Westport enviro natural gas stove with a pilot

Customer Question

I have a Westport enviro natural gas stove with a pilot light that won't stay light. We have replaced the ignition switch, pilot tube, thermopile/thermocouple. At my wits end. Any ideas?

Busy day, not many techs online.

SO When you replced thermocouple, make sure its on tight, and...

Expert:  Gaztech replied 4 months ago.

This time when you press in the pilot knob in to light pilot, keep it push in and tap on the knob fully in with the handle of a big screw driver,

This is to ensure the internal electro magnet is seating in all the way and sticks oi, and keep it pushed in for 40 seconds, try that now and tell me if it works

Tried it. No change.
Expert:  Gaztech replied 4 months ago.

Where the thermocouple screws in, is there 2 wires that stick out where the thermocouple seats in?

Expert:  Gaztech replied 4 months ago.

The diagram of your gas valve does not show the 2 wires, I mentioned it incase your valve had been charged in the past,

To resume, It is then most likely that the electromagnet in your valve is defective and not repairable and unfortunately will need to be replaced entirely.

Here is a manual for a Westport stove, not sure if it's the same as you did not provide a model number.

The part number is ***** 25 on page 39
