Old series furnace. Piolet light will light, but furnace

old ward series furnace. Piolet light will light, but furnace wont kick on. Worked last season and now first start this season, nothing
JA: Did you check the furnace's filters?
Customer: changed it
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: if I can. I know a little
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: Pilet was on all summer. forgot to extinguish it at end of last season
