I have a Trane XR90 furnace about 12 years old. It's blowing

Customer Question

Hi, I have a Trane XR90 furnace about 12 years old. It's blowing cold air not warm.
JA: Did you double-check the thermostat's settings? And what about the filters?
Customer: Brand new filter and thermostat settings are good.
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: My husband would like to if possible?
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: Don't think so. This isn't the first time it's been on this season, was working fine. Yesterday it would heat but wouldn't run a full cycle to get up to temp.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.

Customer: replied 1 month ago.

Blower is running but it's pushing cold air. Code now is blinking 2 times.

Expert:  BillyHvac replied 1 month ago.

Thank you.

Please do this:

Turn off the furnace at thermostat.

Wait until no operation

Turn thermostat up

Then tell me the order in which things happen....

exhaust fan, ignition, blower, flames out/on...etc

Customer: replied 1 month ago.

Flames won't kick in, furnace keeps turning off then on to retry.

Expert:  BillyHvac replied 1 month ago.

Thank you.

Did you hear the gas valve click twice about a minute after the exhaust fan started?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.

No I didn't. Blower kicked on but it's cold air.

Expert:  BillyHvac replied 1 month ago.

Ok you likely have a bad ignitor.

Are you interested in locating and fixing yourself?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.

Yes

Expert:  BillyHvac replied 1 month ago.

see this pic

can you remove the ignitor and tell me if there is a fine white line across it?

Customer: replied 1 month ago.

Mine doesn't look like that? It's a XR90

Expert:  BillyHvac replied 1 month ago.

it all depends on the year. XR90 is like saying Camaro...but the year is what determines format.

I would need a model number or pic of your unit..but the end result is the ignitor is always in front of the burner...whether high, low, behind a plate etc..
