Have HVAC Questions? Ask an HVAC Expert for Answers
Hello,My name is ***** ***** I will do my best to assist you. I am looking over your question now and will respond shortly.
Were you running ac when this happened?
Normally this is caused by high pressure of the refrigerant related to plugged coil or fan failure.
Since your breaker tripped...and the pressure tripped...odds are the fan in top failed and then compressor kept pumping until high head tripped.
Either the motor going bad can trip the breaker or the actually high head pressure. You will not be able to resume normal operation until you have the fan and compressor checked in outdoor unit.
Odds are you need a fan motor.
