I have an L8148 control om my crown boiler. About 6 months

Customer Question

I have an L8148 control om my crown boiler. About 6 months ago it failed to make one of the contacts. A very gentle tap on th outside of the box box caused it to make and has been running normally. Today the same thing occured. A gentle tap on the box and it started just fine. Should I plan on replacing the controller or is it repairable??
JA: How long has this been going on? And how severe is the problem?
Customer: the second time in 6 months. It is currently running o k.
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: Yes i replaced one about 3 years ago on the same boiler
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: thats all.

You can't repair this control. When the contactor starts to fail you have to replace the control. You might want to consider a Beckett Aquasmart control instead of the L8148. The Aquasmart runs a proprietary algorithm that will reduce your fuel usage by 10% to 20%. It does this by modulating boiler water temp so when it's not as cold out the boiler water isn't as hot. It also does not require an outside sensor and is about the same price as an L8148.

Wiring is very similar to the L8148
