I have a 2 1/2 year old gas water heater. The pilot light

Customer Question

I have a 2 1/2 year old gas water heater. The pilot light got blown out. When I try to light it the status light does nothing. I have tried several times waiting 10 min. between. Do I have to reset the thermal switch? I have central air. The furnace and water heater share a vent pipe. I think the furnace filter was so plugged the blower started pulling air up through the water heater causing the pilot light to go out. The pilot light stays lit until I leave up on the button then goes out.
