Customer Question

Hi! I'm researching a system for a new home build. My present home has a baseboard single loop system? Yup! I'm uncertain whether to use conventional copper tube-aluminum fin rads or baseray cast units? I'm looking at supergreens IR 6000 for the generator, it seems to be a variable output unit and I was hoping to find out if your taco VT 2218 would be a good match for this? Home will be 1400 sq. ft. Thanks for your time!

Copper baseboard is much more cost effective than cast iron base. System installation and material cost would be close to double the cost for copper with no significant operating benefit. Your heat source is not one I would recommend. Tankless water heaters are a bad idea for space heating. I'd go with a cast iron boiler instead of a condensing boiler for durability and reliability. Any fuel cost savings you might get with a condensing boiler would be lost in higher installation and maintenance costs. If you must go with a condensing unit then Buderus would be my choice. Burnham or Weil Mclain for a cast iron boiler. The Taco VT series is a waste of money. A simple 007 series is all you need.
