my new compressor is making a loud rumbling noise every 45 seconds or so...I cannot determine where it is coming from or why it is happening...

Hello, you will need a clamp around amp meter to diagnose that properly, $50 at a big box store electrical dept, $29 at Harbor Freight

Meantime tell me if this was installed by an HVAC contractor and if you did it yourself or not, and if it is a replacement condensing unit for an older refrigerant 22 system.

We can go from there.

I also need to know what the tonnage rating is of the unit, and what the head and suction pressures are along with the indoor and outdoor temperatures taken at the exact same time.
