i have a non-programble honeywell thermostat, i think the thermostsat is bad. i have checked that the fuses and circuit brerakers are good. it is connected to a f.p.l. on call control unit it is off and the thermostsat's screen is blank. my question is, will a bad thermostat cause this problem?

Yes a bad thermostat will cause the problem but so will a loss of 24 volt power to the thermostat.

I need to know what you mean by a f.p.l on call control, and I need a description of what sort of system you have in detail and the brand and model number of furnace. air handler, boiler or zone controller that the thermostat wires connect to.
