1. Price seems a bit high if for outdoor unit and refrigerant only.

2.Did they give you a quote on upgrading system to the new R410A equipment?

3.Where are you located geographically? Prices vary depending on where you are but this seems high anywhere in U.S.

This is an outdoor unit. The location is on Peabody, MA about 40 min north of Boston. They did not quote RA410 equipment. What is the difference? Many thanks.

All new equipment uses the new R410 refrigerant which is not ozone depleting. Anything you purchase that uses R22 is higher as the R22 is being phased out.You can not even buy a new unit with R22 refrigerant.Contractor has to buy it "dry" or with no refrigerant in it, then charge the system with R22.The R22 is about 90 to 120 bucks per pound now.

I would suspect you can purchase the new indoor and outdoor for maybe another 1500 bucks and get a 10 year parts warranty.
