I have a heat pump unit where the entire unit is one

Customer Question

I have a heat pump unit where the entire unit is one complete piece outside. I am getting 24v to my R and O from the thermostat which should be telling it to kick on the heat. When I trace back to the contactor I am not getting a 24v signal on the sides of it. I have a brand new thermostat and a new wire from the tstat to the unit

hello,

did you program the thermostat for heat pump?

R is 24v and O is reverse valve...but we still need the compressor to kick on which is Y.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Ok. So I just checked and I am not getting 24v at Y on my unit. Would this be an issue on the tstat wiring?
Expert:  BillyHvac replied 1 year ago.

depends...did you program the thermostat for heat pump operation?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
The tstat is wired as:
R from unit to R on tstat with jumper to Rc
Y1 from unit to Y on tstat
G from unit to G on tstat
W2 and W3 from unit to aux/e on tstat
O from unit to O/B on tstat

function 1 must be set for your heat pump system

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Ok. I had to step away from my house for a little bit. I will try that when I get back. Would my unit be a 5 or a 7 under the function 1 since I have W2 and W3 put together at the unit
Expert:  BillyHvac replied 1 year ago.

that will be 5.

also if the outdoor unit is a rheem the changeover valve is B.

If NOT a Rheem or Ruud it is set for O

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Ok. Once I get back to my house and try it I will let you know
