Do you have a thermostat or just the remote ?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
Its a fireplace and the remote turns it on. There are two screws that turn the flame up and down but that has to be set with a screw driver before trying to light with the remote I have not changed those settings and they were good before gas was turned off.

Have you checked to make sure the manual reset limit is not tripped?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
On this model there is a wall switch which you can set to remote, on or off. The wall switch has 4 batteries size AA . The batteries have been tested and are fine. Where would I find a manual reset button. This unit is only three years old but the previous owner took the owners manual.

How do I get back in touch with you if to tell you the results?

Just come back to this page. Also turn switch remote off and see if fireplace will light by turning knob on valve.

Tried this still could not get it to light.

Will fireplace come on manually with switch for remote off and using knob on valve?

Ok so we know issue has to be in remote or receiver. Lets try a new set of batteries in both.

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
but only if I hold the reset button down
Customer: replied 10 months ago.
I tried a new set in both and used a battery tester to make sure they were good

When I try the remote (it only has on off buttons) the red light comes on showing it is transmitting

Not sure why it could have gone bad by just not being used, but is apparent the remote is not working.so you may have you replace it.

I was reading that the remote has to be tuned. Maybe when they turned it off that messed that setting up. I'm going to try retuning next the new remote is 50 bucks. I'll be over there this afternoon.
