Have a carrier a/c. Cooling works but heat does not come on.

Customer Question

Have a carrier a/c. Cooling works but heat does not come on. I want to try and replace the 5 amp fuse but where do I find the location in air handler so I can do so??

Hello,

if you have cooling then the fuse is not blown in the air handler. If fuse were blown nothing would work except maybe a nonstop blower.

The air handler will have 2 doors....one where freon pipes enter...and the other a solid panel. Follow wiring into unit and that is the door to remove if you wish to.

When cooling does outdoor unit run?

It runs when cooling

Do you mean to say open the door where the freon tubes enter?

I apologize...your response came a hour and a half after later and i had signed off.

I do not see value in finding the fuse as it would not cool if fuse was blown.

Now, if it cools but does not heat....would likely be a defrost board issue in the outdoor unit. Would you be replacing this yourself?
