Sorry getting ready to leave for the day. Before I go try one more thing. Take a wire or jumper or pair of needle nose pliers and connect the R and W wire on control board where thermostat wires connect and with door switch held in see if furnace will light.http://i.imgur.com/JprQdYv.png

Customer: replied 1 year ago.

i have needle noise pliers.
Expert:  airheatman replied 1 year ago.

OK push door switch in and jump R and W with needle nose to see if heater will come on

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
do put the pliers on the connections before pushing the door switch in or after?
Expert:  airheatman replied 1 year ago.

Doesn't matter as long as both are done

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
ok. i placed the needle nose on the R and W and held the switch in for at least 30 seconds and the furnace does the same as before... just appears to be blowing air and the red light blinking.
Expert:  airheatman replied 1 year ago.

What is blink pattern now?

Expert:  airheatman replied 1 year ago.

I meant to tell you.The blower should run nonstop for 90 seconds. Then light should turn solid and the vent motor should come on starting heat cycle. If you did not hold door switch and jumper on R and W for at least 90 seconds, Do it again and keep doing for 90 seconds.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
i will check but my connections are labeled G C W Y R not R W Y G C
Expert:  airheatman replied 1 year ago.

i did it for 90 and 1 min and 54 secs. the last time the light held solid and the blowing stopped and the furnace was just humming until i release the switch and removed the plier.
Expert:  airheatman replied 1 year ago.

OK if just humming. we may have a bad inducer vent motor. Lets concentrate on that.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
ok
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
what does that entail?
Expert:  airheatman replied 1 year ago.

Do you see that little rubber hose between vent motor and the pressure switch (pressure switch has the yellow and orange wires)

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
taking a look for that....
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Expert:  airheatman replied 1 year ago.

Tape or hold door switch in to keep power to furnace .Turn thermostat to call for heat.Remove the rubber hose from inducer. Leave attached to pressure switch. then suck on end of hose and see if pressure switch clicks and closes and if furnace will ignite.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
i am going to turn the thermostat to call for heat and get tape... be right back...
Expert:  airheatman replied 1 year ago.

OK

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
how long should it take to ignite?
Expert:  airheatman replied 1 year ago.

No more than about 30 seconds

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
ok... will try now...be right..
Expert:  airheatman replied 1 year ago.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
dang....hope i didn't inhale something i shouldn't have. ... i heard the pressure switch click with the suction ...furnace just hums
Expert:  airheatman replied 1 year ago.

I think we have an issue with that inducer motor.Do you have a multi meter for checking voltage?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
i don't know what that is.. this is my first time in a furnace
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
sorry..oh..no i don't..
Expert:  airheatman replied 1 year ago.

I think probably going to be best to get a tech there to troubleshoot as some of the necessary test are going to require the meter and being familiar with what to do.It would be awfully easy to cause harm to yourself to damage to equipment or even home if not familiar with working on the furnace .

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
thanks for that advice. but...does it appear to be the inducer motor though or not necessarily.
Expert:  airheatman replied 1 year ago.

That is what it sounds like. The inducer has to start before anything else. But I hate to condemn it since board is not giving us an error code of pressure switch it could be board.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
ok so if it is the board is that more serious than inducer motor?
Expert:  airheatman replied 1 year ago.

Probably about same price but hate to tell you which one to change without troubleshooting with a meter

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
if it is the board, is that more serious than the inducer motor?
Expert:  airheatman replied 1 year ago.

Board will probably actually cost a little less than inducer to replace.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
ok..i am impressed with your service...thanks for the help...scheduled a tech to take a look.
Expert:  airheatman replied 1 year ago.
