I have a payne gas heater that repeatedly throws a code 23 and after going through everything I believe the cpu is bad. Is this a problem with these units?

Yes that is a common failure on the unit, if you have tested everything with the pressure switch and tube and made sure the ports are not blocked nor the wiring is broken to the board, then yes that does happen. Just double check the wiring from the switch to the board for sure. Otherwise new board is in order!
