Customer Question

Rick,
I am getting a flashing code 2 on my board. Unit will not take the next step

Can you give me complete model from inside furnace in burner compartment so I can provide guidance with this specific unit.Model will be on a label just above burners on right or left inside panel.

Normally the 2 flash code is a pressure switch problem but lets make sure and we will go from here.

Excellent let me grab that manual.

Expert:  airheatman replied 1 year ago.

OK now I have the manual but my fault codes do not show a 2. Are you getting the number 2 or 2 flashes or what?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
2 flashes
Expert:  airheatman replied 1 year ago.

What is the serial number, you may have an earlier furnace than what I am looking at which used an earlier board. Serial will be right below model on label

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Unit seems to start correctly, with the normal "H" I hear a click and the 5 -10 second I see the flashing code.

Ok while I am looking do this. Turn power off to furnace thermostat off.Tell me if you still get flash code. Then call for heat and tell me if we get same code

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I have the unit powered down. Will flip switch and watch. Thermostat is a part of furnace electrical. Will do.
Expert:  airheatman replied 1 year ago.

Excellent Standing by. Your furnace was made in 04. but still uses same board.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Unit started like normal, went through the 5 sequences and moved to "H", sound like it was ready to ignite but then the system switched to the flashing of 2 bars.

OK let me ask this. Does the small vent motor come on ?

Expert:  airheatman replied 1 year ago.

Then igniter and then burners before you get the code?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I see the main motor running in the center of the unit. Not certain about a small vent motor?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No burners ever come on.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I have air flow out the discharge side.
Expert:  airheatman replied 1 year ago.

How about inducer vent motor or igniter?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
The large inducer motor come on a goes through the purge cycle.
Expert:  airheatman replied 1 year ago.

This is where are are on chart.

Expert:  airheatman replied 1 year ago.

After inducer comes on 30 seconds later we should get spark at igniter. Do we?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Agree Does it sense spark before valve is open?
Expert:  airheatman replied 1 year ago.

Board should be sending voltage to valve automatically for 8 seconds as soon as igniter starts sparking. Are yu saying it sparks but no burners light?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No spark visible.
Expert:  airheatman replied 1 year ago.

But you get no code like 45 or 47 before the lockout correct?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I do not have code numbers. The unit flashes. Repeated Flash- flash pause.
Expert:  airheatman replied 1 year ago.

I am suspecting since you have no numbers they are counting the flashes .Is there a difference in the flashes like short/long ?

The one/one or eleven is a failed ignition error.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I'll check this out. Printed the trouble shooting guide. Will check condition of igniter and wiring.
I may need to bring in a service tech. This will get me going in the right direction.
Thanks, Bob

Bob I am going to upload you the entire manual, Detailed troubleshooting will be in manual beginning on page 56. Perhaps it will help. Can be a bit difficult via email, but will do my best to help

Expert:  airheatman replied 1 year ago.

Rheem and Ruud are exact same furnaces, Rheem uses RGFD and Ruud uses UGFD as model number
