Customer Question

hi! I have an rg00 080a heater. the main burners will not ignite. I have installed a new igniter which, by the way fixed the problem about 5 yrs ago. not this time! I don't have much in the way of meters to check things. thanks, jeff

Welcome to Just Answer, my name is ***** ***** I will do my best to help you with your issue. If my initial response doesn’t answer your question then let me know and we can continue our conversation.

Do you mean you have an RGDD furnace? There is no RGOO

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
probably rgdd. tiny letters, hard to read.
Expert:  Rick replied 1 year ago.

Ok, some models of this furnace have a draft fan on the exhaust. Does yours have a draft fan?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
i don't know how to tell. the only fan I know of is at the bottom of the unit
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I got the magnifying glass out. it's rgaa?
Expert:  Rick replied 1 year ago.

RGAA has a pilot . RGDD has an igniter. The exhaust vent begins at the fan. If you don't see I need a picture of the front of the furnace with the burner compartment panel off. You can post a picture here by clicking on “ADD FILES” link next to the SEND button. If that doesn’t work for you then you can upload a pic to a file sharing service like Google pics or Dropbox. Then post the “share” link to your picture here or you can email the pic to customer service but the last option can take quite a while to get to me. I have almost no info on an RGAA, no specs just a lame parts list

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
it's a pilot light. runs all the time
Expert:  Rick replied 1 year ago.

Ok so no inducer. Still need pics, and if there's a wiring diagram pasted to the inside of one of the panels that would be a big help too

Expert:  Rick replied 1 year ago.

Or do you have a multi-meter/volt meter?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
a multi meter
Expert:  Rick replied 1 year ago.

Ok, if the pilot is lit see if you have 24 volts at the gas valve.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
there is a black wire & a white wire on the valve & black & red wires on a unit next to the gas valve. no power
Expert:  Rick replied 1 year ago.

You could have a bad transformer. See if you can find it and test its' output. I still need pics.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
the fan works on manual, so the round fuse is ok.
Expert:  Rick replied 1 year ago.

Can you post some pics?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
sorry, I can't send pics. i'll just call a tech to the house. appreciate the attempt. please don't charge my acct. jeff
