Customer Question

We have a very hot 540 square foot loft in Waikiki that is a corner unit. It gets direct sun for most of every afternoon. It is unbearably hot. We installed TWO 14,000 btu PORTABLE ac's and they just barely touch the heat in the unit. We are required to install only portable acs in the unit. WE are looking at a 24,000 btu 220V unit and are told that it will cool much BETTER than the 2 portable 14,000btu inits. Is this true and why?

Welcome to www.justanswer.com

Can you give me some more information on the 540 Sq ft? What type construction? Roof material? Is it insulated?

One of the 14k BTU should be more than adequate. Is the exhaust ducted to the outside of the unit?

This is an old condo building. 1950's.
Brick and concrete. During the day the walls feel hot.
Maybe it would be easier if I asked if there would be any difference between a 220 14,000btu ac and a 110 14,000 btu. ac.
we are being told that we need at least 36,000 btu's on a 220 line to cool this unit.
THe 2 14000 btu units are new and work as they should.
Is 220 better than 110 for air-conditioning?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
The two units are ducted to the outside of the unit.
Per instructions.
I went and looked at commercial portable units today.
The portable 36,000 btu is too big for the unit.
I'm thinking of unsung the commercial moving cool brand 24,000 btu on a 220 line. AND a 1 4,000 btu unit that we have.

Thank you, ***** ***** be 3+ Tons of cooling in a space that would normally require 1+ Ton. Your proposal would definitely cool the area.

Let me know how it goes. Thank you, Ken
