I have a programmable thermostat it worked fine last winder

Customer Question

I have a programmable thermostat it worked fine last winder and the summer. The problem is when I changed it to the heat setting the oil fired forced air furnace came on but the outsiide compressor also came on. The led indicates the heat setting is on. I have checked the thermostat settings and they are the same as last year. I did move the selection (cool/heat) when it was not connected to the wire plate thinking some corrosion may be present but this also failed. Do you have a quick fix for this problem.
