It sounds like a problem with your motorised valve.

Can you locate this in your airing cupboard and tell me if the lever on the side is slack or tight when everything is turned off?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Found the pump but no levers anywhere. Boiler has returned to normal now. Is it likely to do the same when the heating comes back on?

I would try the heating on again now, better to find out now than late at night.

This is what a standard motorised valkve looks like;
