Customer Question

I have Goodman CK30 - 1A Compressor ouside unit rated at 30,000 BTU R-22 and a BDP 518A30CC inside unit. I need to replace the Goodman outdoor Compressor but I don't know what size I possible go to or if I have to stay with another 2.5 ton unit?

Hi my name is ***** ***** I'm here to help you out with your question. Your indoor coil (evaporator) is matched to the outdoor unit (condenser) which contains the compressor. If you change the condensing unit to one with more btu's, you will have to change the evaporator along with it. Also, new equipment does not use r-22 (r22 equipment is no longer manufactured), the new refrigerant is r-410a and the two refrigerants cannot be used together. (You can't mix a 410a condenser with a r22 evaporator or visa versa)
