I don't know. my light in my thermostat has gone out and I see no place to put batteries

You may have a 24 volt supplied thermostat. You should go to your furnace or airhandler depending on where you live and get at the board inside that, on the board you should see a slot style fuse 3amp...pull that out and check it to see if it is burned out.
