Customer Question

Thanks. New house as of April. Have the EMM3 zone system. Not at home but troubleshooting an issue.

I have a 2.5 ton that pushes my main living areas. I have a 3 ton that pushes 3 separate zones (don't ask me--I didn't design/build it!). : )Anyway, the zones are master, kids rooms, bonus/upstairs. The bonus won't stay cool during the hot afternoons until I turn off the kids. Then it cools down normally/reasonably quickly. If I don't do that, it gets into the low 80s. Seems strange...

I'm a fairly handy/DIYer, so don't think it will be tough to troubleshoot.

does the master have the same effect?
do you know where the dampers are?
use reply

I can't test the master effect til we have a hot afternoon. Prob in next few days. I did check the panel, and the orange is flashing. Would a DATS failure cause a zone to not cool, possibly?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
didn't see the dampers but will dig a bit deeper tomorrow.

I am wondering if the affected area had the damper installed after the the other instead of parallel.
If the dampers were in series it would explain why the unit cools when other shuts down

Ahhh. I get what you are saying, i think. Will be interesting to uncover the issue.

I have seen many systems installed by convenience and not design.
If you can locate dampers and rough sketch design I can assist further.

Actually have a friend coming over that is in the business coming by at 9:30.will advise what the issue is or if further assistance is needed. Thanks!

If you don't mind I will keep this open. My guy and his daughter were sick so didn't make it out. Hopefully he can get out soon.
