I just purchased a 2.5 ton copeland ZR28K5E-PVF Compressor

Customer Question

I just purchased a 2.5 ton copeland ZR28K5E-PVF Compressor and there are three wires coming off compressor - One is Dark Gray, One black and last is gray. Please advise as to where these wires should hook up to capacitor - I do not want to obviously burn unit.
I am in a rural location - it is almost impossible to get someone out in time. Thank you.

Hello. My name is ***** ***** I'll do my best to help. Let's get started and see what we can do.The wires should have a C R and S by the terminals. One is start, one is common and the other is run.You will want to run the wire from HERM on capacitor to S (Start) and power wires from contactors to R(RUN) and (COM (Common). If you can provide model on unit is going in, I will see if I have a wiring diagram.Or if you have a diagram on label, take pic and attach here.

Tim,
My question to you is (keep in mind I am not electrician) dark gray wire with 'S' label, Black wire labeled 'C' , and gray wire labeled 'R' - please disclose where exactly those wires connect ?

I will go get diagram and send really quick. Thank you for your help.

Dark gray labeled S will go to HERM terminal on your capacitor.Black labeled C will go to one side of the contactors in unit. Gray labeled R will go to opposite side of the contactors.
If you can give me model on unit. I can be more specific and send you a drawing or photo.
There should be a model on the ac unit.
