Will it hurt anything if I put a drain hole in the very bottom

Customer Question

Will it hurt anything if I put a drain hole in the very bottom of my window unit air conditioner?

As long as you don't hit anything inside the case while you're drilling the hole it won't do any harm. There should be a drain hole already in the bottom of the case.

There is a hole but not in the very bottom. It is up about 1/2 inch above the bottom so there is water in the bottom of the pan, which is the way all window Ac units are. However, this is throwing water out the side and getting it on the side of the house, which is what I want to eliminate.

Ok, no problem just be careful where you drill it
