Older AC units develop leaking drain pans, and dirt build up on the cooling coil that causes water to drip off of the face of the coil and to places is was not meant to go.Tell me please if your furnace is in the attic, or in a closet or in the garage etc, and where the coil is mounted in relation to the furnace. We can go from there.
