Hello,
do you see mode button?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
yes.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
hello
Expert:  BillyHvac replied 1 year ago.
Press mode button until the house icon goes away.
If the house icon is gone it is now a standard thermostat with no programming.
If the house icon is visible it is in program mode.
So press mode until house is gone and you are all set
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
we did that and it comes on for just a second and then shuts off again.
Expert:  BillyHvac replied 1 year ago.
what comes on and shuts off?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
the air conditioner will start running, and then goes off right away. it's 82 degrees and it won't stay on to cool off
Expert:  BillyHvac replied 1 year ago.
this may not be a thermostat issue.
Press mode until house appears....then turn temp down to 75.
Does it do the same thing?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
should the snowflake be on...
Expert:  BillyHvac replied 1 year ago.
correct
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
you mode and house appeared but won't come back on
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
it shows house with the number 4 and house blinking
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
and can't get it to stay on
Expert:  BillyHvac replied 1 year ago.
There is a 5 min delay when turning cool off/on.
do you mind a hands on test that involves removing the front of the thermostat to where we can see the thermostat wires?
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
no. i'm doing this over the phone with my sister in another state
Expert:  BillyHvac replied 1 year ago.
Ok if the house is blinking....and the temp turned down to 75..it is in delay. There is a way to bypass thermostat to see if it stat or equipment..but requires removing stat.
It sounds more like equipment fail to me and not thermostat
Customer: replied 1 year ago.
stat? what is stat haha
Expert:  BillyHvac replied 1 year ago.
Sorry..
short for thermostat
