hi im gary
you can still see the read out, but its dim? correct?
if you push on both side of stat does that help? (meaning could have a poor connection from stat front to stat base
and does your thermostat take batteries?
Don't know, I will try now.
no change, no matter how or where I push.
does it take batteries?
no batteries in this unit
ok, you have had thermostat seperated from the base, do this again, and you will see a few rods, that make connection when you reinsert base
pull it of again, and tell me if the silver pins look correded, or dirty
OK, will do
clean them with some steel wool if they do, and reinsert base
making sure it clicks back in good
to make a good connection
pins are all shiny and no corrosion.
at this point, if your sure the stat is firmly at the stat base, i would replace the thermostat, as the unit is defective or soon will be, good thing is its working now, but i would replace it as soon as you can. so your not without your unit
You dont want it to give up completely, at the worst time
Thanks, XXXXX XXXXX I was hoping for but what I expected.
Sorry for the news
if you need help replaceing it, i can assist with that as well
Is there an equivalent current unit. This one is 10 years old.
What do you need, programable, non programable? and are you gas heat/ac electric heat/ac heat pump/emergency heat?
basic programmable for gas heat and AC
do you have lowes/home depot/menards store close by?
Lowes and home depot
either one will carry what you need, and will do what you want. I recommend a honeywell, they have good reliable thermostats, any one you choose will work on your system
and are simple to set up
Will they also control the humidifier that is attached to the furnace?
did you have controls on your current stat? meaning humidity input at thermostat? or just heat or ac control?
your humidifier would be controlled at furnace if so
Yes, it has a humidity control.
and yes they would work
Thanks. XXXXX need to go look at a replacement.
your welcome, when you get it even after rating just reply to this post if you need help installing it. thanks gary
