Will a Trane Comfortlink thermostat work with a 2 wire oil

This answer was rated:

Will a Trane Comfortlink thermostat work with a 2 wire oil furnace and baseboard hot water system
Hi, I'm Douglas and I am here to help you resolve problems with your heating and cooling equipment.

This is a communicating thermostat that interfaces with specific Trane equipment. It will not work with your application. Are you looking for something that has wifi capability?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

I am looking at home automation through Z-Wave.

Ok... There are several thermostats that can be used but no matter which one, you will need a third wire from the common side of the transformer. Trane has a few z wave stats, you don't want the Comfortlink version

Is it possible to run a third wire?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

Short answer yes.

Choose one that is not labeled Comfortlink. You'll be fine with the third wire installed
