I have an older trane XE 1200 split system that I recently changed a compressor for the unit. As a rule I usually change the liquid line filter when I change a compressor but on this one I had trouble locating it. The only thing I saw that might be the filter was a section of pipe that looked like a snake swallowing a frog. Can you help me locate the filter drier for this unit?

Does this look familiar?

Parker Dryer, Liquid Line - 712

sorry it appears pic was lost

I got the picture. That is what I thought it was. Did you get my other related question ?

IF...that is what you see, you have found the liquid line drier.

It is just a different version.

If that is what you see and it is in the liquid line then you can remove that filter and replace with a liquid line drier....the style is irrelevent as long as tonnoage and direct are correct.

What was your other question?

Customer: replied 3 years ago.

could a clogged filter cause lower than usual suction side pressure. I have a unit that is freezing up in the early morning time when the ambient is lower than later in the day.

But you would also see a higher head pressure than usual.

High head/low suction = restriction
Low head/low suction = low on charge

That is IF.....the air flow is proper, clean filter, sufficient air flow.
