I believe I have mold growing on a 2 year old Lennox AC coil. I am hypersensitive to mold so the exposure makes me ill. I also have an AprilAire whole-house dehumidifier that takes are in from across the house and inserts the dry air (40%RH) into the return plenum for the AC system. I had the dehumidifier installed to keep the Lennox AC coil dry and the whole house dry. Unfortunately, it appears I have mold growing on the coil anyway. What do I do to elminate the mold? Buy a anti-fungal coated coil and/or use AirOasis PCO lamps at the coil and ducts and/or replace the entire air handler or other ideas?VA
Optional Information: Brand: Lennox Type of HVAC: Air Conditioner
Installing UV lighting should take care of problem and having the coil washed with disinfectant such a bleach solution to kill mold then have UV lights installed
If air handler is invested with mold it may have to be replaced
This becoming a big problem lately I see more and more of it might have something to do with tighter home construction
Two days ago I installed two AirOasis Induct PCO lamps (one in the left main supply branch about 5 feet downstream from Lennox AC cooling coil and one in the return plenum about 8 feet in upstream of the coil). I suspect the AprilAire Dehumidifier coil may be also contaminated.
