I have a Frigidaire window unit heater/ac.mdl# XXXXX ser#KKK95004763The compressor runs continuously regardless of on/off status, mode selection, thermostat setting, fan speed, or anything else. The ONLY way to get the compressor to stop is to pull the plug. How do I fix it?Thank you.
Optional Information: Brand: Frigidaire Type of Appliance: Other Already Tried: Setting the thermostat, changing modes, turning the unit off, and pulling the plug. Only the last one was successful.
The control board must have relay and or small contactor that has fused contacts which maybe hard to find parts and access at without removal of units outer casing
These units have become almost throw away items because they are so inexpensive now
with cost of labor and parts it does not make sense on some repairs
this may be one one those times
Where do I get a replacement control unit?
From a frigidaire dealer
it would be a OEM part
Okay.
Good Luck
When you say to simply throwaway and replace, I assume you refer to the control board, not the entire ac unit. Correct?
well that would depend on cost of part before I would make that choice
but would be leaning towards total replacement of unit depending on its age also
I agree.
I keep trying to reply, but there is no response...starting to think pc is in cahoots w/ ac unit. ;o)
For your info, this unit has only been in service about 18 mos. and is not exposed to weather.
OK good luck then and if you more assistance just ask on post
Check warranty info it may be covered
Ok. Should I end this chat, or wait until I've got enough info to make the decision...just in case I have more Qs.
you can leave open or accept and still get more info your choice
Have to leave but will check back soon
Rick: Found out that only sealed sys components are covered after first year. $100 for control board from local parts dealer. O.w. been happy w/unit.
Compared to newer one is the main factor
It maybe worth fixing this one
But what caused the relay to fused together in the first place and whats to say it does not happen again
shop a new unit is my last stance don't put good money into bad
Okay. Finished replacing board. Seems to be working okay. I checked continuity across compressor relay on old board, but it indicates open. Go figure. At any rate, it's fixed for the moment. Only time will tell. Thanks for your help.
