Wvfan79 :

Hello there! I'm Norman but you can call me Norm. Let's see what I can do to get you some answers today. I'm ready to get started whenever you are.

Wvfan79 :

Let me clarify your post. You are saying you replaced the Blower relay already and swapped in a different thermostat. You are also saying you can press the contactor in manually and the condenser will start up as normal.

Customer :

yes outside compressor and fan run its in side wont come on after time or dont cut comp and outside fan on when therm calls for it

Wvfan79 :

Does the blower indoors run at all?

Customer :

no unable to get it to run but its free when spin by hand

Wvfan79 :

Is the indoor section a furnace or an air handler?

Customer :

using it only as air con didnt have heat stripps put in

Wvfan79 :

So the outdoor is only a straight A/C unit not a heat pump?

Customer :

straight ac

Wvfan79 :

Have you checked your low voltage wire connections at the air handler?

Customer :

yes they all seem ok

Wvfan79 :

And is the thermostat battery powered?

Customer :

yes and chged bat plus took other therm from other unit and swapped them

Wvfan79 :

And I'm assuming you checked all the circuit breakers in the panel.

Customer :

ytes no thromn brakers

Wvfan79 :

Ok, do you own a multimeter and do you know how to use it?

Customer :

yes iam tech retired from bellsouth work all my life in electronics

Wvfan79 :

OK good. Did you say you tried switching the thermostat Fan switch to the ON position?

Customer :

yes you can switch it to on but fan dont run on inside unit

Wvfan79 :

Ok. Have you tested the transformer in the airhandler?

Customer :

no i dont rely know where to ck on it and not sure what voltage to get frm it

Wvfan79 :

Ok, you have a 208/230v primary transformer stepping down to 24v secondary.

Wvfan79 :

Wvfan79 :

It may look something like this and will be mounted to the vestibule panel straight ahead in the air handler.

Wvfan79 :

Hold one sec and I'll show you where.

Wvfan79 :

PART # XXX

Wvfan79 :

Also does this model have a circuit board in there as well?

Customer :

there is no ckt bds in this unit

Wvfan79 :

I didnt think so. The schematic I had shows something that looks like one. Please go ahead and test the transformer. Please be careful of course. Do you know how to test the transformer?

Customer :

give me min and i can ck volt out trans if its ok with u

Wvfan79 :

Yep, sounds good. I'll be standing by

Customer :

thers no volts out of trans former have 208 volt sin which cks on bottom wires on trans and the 2 wires in top have nothing on then and would assume its gone and need to know where i get on from

Wvfan79 :

Yep, it's gone

Wvfan79 :

That's your problem right there. Give me a minute to locate the replacement.

Wvfan79 :
