Hi, my Noma thermostat has stopped working. None of the buttons are working. Need help.

M Oglesby :

Go to the furnace and check to see if there are any flashing lights on the furnace control board?

M Oglesby :

If so, what pattern are they flashing in?

Customer:

You mean the Noma thermostat

Customer:

only the green light is on ... i even changed the batteries

M Oglesby :

Not on the thermostat, on the furnace itself.

Customer:

ok let me go and check.. i will be back in 1 min

M Oglesby :

ok. Make sure the heat is on at the thermostat.

Customer:

its a small green light flashing

M Oglesby :

What pattern is it flashing in?

M Oglesby :

1 flash pause, 2 flash pause, etc...?

Customer:

1 flash pause

M Oglesby :

What is the name brand of your furnace?

Customer:

Lennox

M Oglesby :

One moment while I look up the code. 1 flash led troubleshooting code.

M Oglesby :

go to the furnace and cut the power to the furnace off then back on. Make sure the thermostat is still set to call for heat. While the furnace is starting up, observe the ignition process very closely. Tell me if the igniter glows red or if the burners ever ignite at all.

Customer:

ok i will do as you say and get back

M Oglesby :

ok

Customer:

i tried as you mentioned.. but seems nothing happened

Customer:

the flash light is still green

Customer:

excuse my ignorance here

Customer:

but want to confirm

Customer:

is this the light which is next to the boiler and the furnace

M Oglesby :

The furnace is not doing anything?

Customer:

i mean the control board light

Customer:

nope the furnance is not doing anything now

Customer:

i mena i dont hear any sound

M Oglesby :

Remove the thermostat cover.

M Oglesby :

You should see a R terminal, W terminal, G terminal, Y terminal

M Oglesby :

Remove the wires from the R and W terminal and twist them together.

M Oglesby :

Let me know if the furnace comes on or not.

Customer:

ok let me try

M Oglesby :

ok

Customer:

yes when u twist R & W the furnace comes on

Customer:

when i twist them together the furnace comes on

Customer:

seems the fan turned on as well

M Oglesby :

That means you have a bad thermostat.

M Oglesby :

You will have to replace it.

M Oglesby :

Please hit ACCEPT if you are satisfied with this service. Thanks!

Customer:

oh ok ...so for now should i put the terminals back in their place or leave them as it is

M Oglesby :

It is not good to leave the thermostat bypassed.

M Oglesby :

It is best to untwist the wires.

Customer:

ok got it.. thanks for your help.
