The honeywell thermocouple in my home boiler fails after 6

The honeywell thermocouple in my home boiler fails after 6 to 12 months. The thermocouples used to last for 6+ years. In the last 4 years, I have had to replace the thermocouple 6 times. What can be causing the very limited life of the thermocouples? Is there some adjustment that should be done by a professional?

I would bet they are not built where they used to be. We are getting parts now that used to be made in the USA (don't know where you are from ) then they were made in Mexico and now they are made in China. We go through the same thing with capacitors.

You might check that the thermocouple is not getting too hot. That could be that it is in the main burner flame or the pilot too much. A simple adjustment like this may help

What can I do to adjust the pilot light?

there should be a pilot adjustment on the gas valve

A-1 Tech :

follow the 1/4" aluminum tube back from the pilot

A-1 Tech :

it may have a little cap over it that unscrews

then you can get to the adjustment screw.

You do not want the thermocouple getting flame from the main burner.
