The replace batteries light on my thermostat was blinking

This answer was rated:

The "replace batteries" light on my thermostat was blinking so I replaced the batteries. Now the thermostat does not appear to be working. There is a blinking light that says "cool on" that I have never seen before. Any ideas?

Turn the power off to the furnace or inside air handler for 5 minutes, the back on.. tell me how that goes. Phil

Customer:

Never mind. The system came back on while I was waiting for your answer and the blinking light went off.
