Time for a new boiler. I have serious doubts about an old Arcoliner working at 79%. Your boiler probably is a minimum of 40+ years old
yes..likley from 1959..
yr house blt
79%...only going on what I am told..
OK 50 years old
I wouldn't know how to even confirm taht
I don't buy it
Oil burner tachs can and do often fudge the numbers
So to the new three pass units make sense or a more standard model would be more cost efficient
sorry, should be techs not tachs
I've received three sep quotes on a new system...2 with a three pass, one recommends std
You only get another 2 to 4% with a 3 pass but if it isn't more than a few hundred more it's probably worth it
good to know...price variance now is about 800...so not worth it.
Be back in a few
What boilers are you considering?
You can't go wrong with any Weil cast iron boiler
are the 3 pass boilers cast iron?
what level of efficiency should I expect
sorry to ping you with all these questions...is it reasonable for me to ask all of this...at what point do I expire my 23 dollars
The WGO gives you 85%
It's a standard config.
A triple pas may give you 87%+
so 3 pass only worth it if 2-300 variance
The MPO is a Burnham boiler
Their 8 series also gives you 85%
The MPO is 87%
ok...this is all good information...
so basically..you think the 79% effic is not valid/reasonabl
maybe low 70's if you have a modern burner
if you have the original burner lucky to hit 65%
and if I decide to go with new unit, then I should look for a WGO or 3 pass,
I'd go with a Weil WGO or a Burnham V8 series, actually I prefer Burnham. Weil customer service leaves a bit to be desired
Any more questions?
No..I think I'm good...thank you....
