Hi, I'm Douglas and I am here to help you resolve problems with your heating and cooling equipment.

Can you tell me what wires are connected to what terminals on the old thermostat base?
Customer: replied 6 years ago.
there are otherwires not connected to anything, but what is connected is g=green, y1=yellow, w1=white, w2=pink, r=red
Expert:  Douglas replied 6 years ago.
ok

On the new thermostat

Red will go to RH with a jumper to RC
Green will go to G
Yellow will go to Y
White and Pink will go to W

Your old thermostat was a two stage thermostat, the new one is only a single stage thermostat so you will not have staging. The remaining wires will not be connected as you noted.

so red is the hot wire. can the other wires be taped to pull through the back of the unit without a problem?
Expert:  Douglas replied 6 years ago.
yes, the unused wires can be taped. It is best to turn the air handler power off when doing this so you dont blow a low voltage fuse
