I am working on a Honeywell RM7895 A 1014 burner control.

Customer Question

I am working on a Honeywell RM7895 A 1014 burner control. The unit goes through purge and begins to light the burner, but instead of allowing 10 seconds to see the pilot, it kicks out after 3 seconds which is not enough time for the pilot to light. It then begins the purge cycle again.

Is JR1 clipped and removed?

The JR1 in place is 10 sec...and clipped and gone (or defective) is 3 seconds

No. We replace it with another burner control and have the same condition.

So JR1 is in place and 3 second rectification is all you have?

Customer: replied 6 years ago.
JR1 is in place. Terminal 8 is only on for three seconds, instead of 10 seconds.

What base are you using and amplifier, purge card?

Is everything new ?

Customer: replied 6 years ago.

We are using the same amplifier and purge card, so they are not new. The unit was running on Wednesday when we shutdown to make repairs. I don't think I have replacement purge cards or amplifier.

Have you run a cycle in Test mode yet?

Not sure how to run a cycle in Test mode?
Expert:  BillyHvac replied 6 years ago.

See page 12 here.....run/test, if equipped is on top left

Our model does not have the run/test switch.

Ok,

given you have you changed control, I am betting purge card. Unfortunately these parts are real pricey.

But simply, if the old control and new control both fault at 4 sec instead of 10...the common denominator is purge card. If amplifier were bad it will still go 10 seconds then fault.

Customer: replied 6 years ago.
Is it possible the purge card could have been damaged during the rewiring?
Expert:  BillyHvac replied 6 years ago.

very much so. Electrical issues is the number one enemy of the card...even if ground is/was bad.
