Hi, sorry you're having trouble with your thermostat. The new Honeywell thermostat you have is not compatible with a heatpump which is what you have.
The orange wire energizes the heatpump reversing valve and the black E wire is for your auxillary electric heat. d
You'll need to return the thermostat and select one with heat pump capability. Let me know if you have further questions, I'll be happy to help. Tom
Is there a way I can hook it up & just run the air for tonight, it's a million degrees in here & the old one doesn't work at all =(
Just a moment and I'll lay it out for you..
which wires just to run the ac?
Connect red to Rc green to G yellow and orange to Y
That should get cooling going...make sure you put some tape or something on the bare black and common
Make sure you have power off to your furnace...
Sometimes folks change stats and accidentally touch wires which usually blows the control fuse in the air handling unit.
would it help if i had the model of central air/heat system
I'll be online for a bit...if you want to try it and get back to me to make sure it works.
No need....pretty standard heat pump wiring setup.
Are you talking about for the new thermostat?
I mean selecting a new one...
No I meant for the central air unit outside...u have the other models
I'd love to know which new thermostat would be compatible though
I can check a Honeywell number while you hook that one up...
it'll take a few minutes..
Here is a Honeywell stat that will work with your heatpump. You can use any brand actually,,just make sure you specify for use with heatpump with auxillary heat.
Ty so much, I have it working for now, will go back to the store in the morning =)
Ok, good luck....Glad it worked out... Tom
Anything else I can do for you?
Nope, Thank you very much =) goodnight
Ok, great... After you accept,,,IF you have time..feedback is greatly appreciated..it helps my expert rating. Tom
Sure will =)
