Hello, is there a flame sensor next to the pilot light, with a small copper tube coming out of it that screws into the gas valve?

Thanks for the answer. I did call in a plumber the next morning and it seemed that there are safety mechanisms along the way and the one right before the pilot light being lit is the one that didn't work.
