FURNACE BLOWER FAN DOES NOT WORK. WHAT MAY BE THE PROBLEM

Customer Question

FURNACE BLOWER FAN DOES NOT WORK. WHAT MAY BE THE PROBLEM?

There are several things....

If you switch the fan switch at the thermostat (if there is one) does the fan come on?

What kind of furnace is this?
Customer: replied 6 years ago.
NO IT DOES NOT. MY OUTSIDE AIR UNIT COMES AND RUN, BUT THE FURNACE FAN ISN'T WORKING
Expert:  Regan Land replied 6 years ago.

With the thermostat off, can you remove the front cover and try to spin the blower with your hand? Does it feel tight or does it spin freely?

Customer: replied 6 years ago.
THE FAN SPINS FREELY
Expert:  Douglas replied 6 years ago.
This may either be a motr problem or a fan relay problem or a fan circuit from the thermostat problem.

Lets do two tests....

1.Turn the thermostat to heat and turn it up. Does the blower come on with after the burners light?

2. Make a rudementary jumper out of a paperclip and attach it to the terminals in the furnace where the red thermostat wire connects and the green thermostat wire connects to see if the fan comes on.

You may want to turn the breaker to your outdoor unit off. You dont want it to run until the blower is corrected.

DId you try these tests?
Customer: replied 6 years ago.

YES I TRIED ALL THE TESTS, NOTHING WORKS! MY FAN MOTOR HAS 6 WIRES

TWO OF THOSE WIRES RUN TO A RELAY TYPE THING THAT HAS 8 PRONGS

4 ON EACH SIDE. I TOOK IT OFF AND IT HAS NO RESISTANCE. SHOULD IT HAVE?

Expert:  Douglas replied 6 years ago.
That is a capacitor and unless you have an analog ohm meter you wont see it jump when you connect to the capacitor.

measure resistance between any other wire and the white?
