WHAT WOULD CAUSE A HEATER TO BLOW OUT COLD AIR INSTEAD OF HEAT?

Is this gas furnace, heatpump, or electric heat

It is a central AC/Heater unit. I believe it is gas furnace but i am not sure. The make is a RUDD Achiever. It was installed about 5or6 years ago.

Sounds like a gas furnace, you may have a bad ignitor. It may be cracked and will not light the furnace. All newer furnaces have a control board in the lower compartment. This control board has an LED that will blink a code whenever the furnace does not work properly. Look at the board and tell me what the blinks equate to.
