Have you recently changed your thermostat?

Customer: replied 5 years ago.

last summer..and it worked just fine

Expert:  Kenton Guidry replied 5 years ago.
So this happened without any work being done to the unit?
Customer: replied 5 years ago.
correct
Expert:  Kenton Guidry replied 5 years ago.
Did you replace your reversing valve on your own?

Did you use a new, or salvaged part?
Customer: replied 5 years ago.

i replaced the part myself...and was brand new part..also replaced the the electrcal cord that came w/the new valve

Expert:  Kenton Guidry replied 5 years ago.
Electrical cord?

Is this the reversing valve located in your condenser?
Customer: replied 5 years ago.
not sure!! The part i replaced is a SOLENOID COIL FOR RANCO REVERSING VALVES W/ 4 WAY PILOT VALVE 48" WIRE LEADS

Customer: replied 5 years ago.

EXACTLY

Expert:  Kenton Guidry replied 5 years ago.
What you replaced is the coil for the valve.

The coil will move the valve.

Your problem must be with the valve itself.

Electrically your working, but mechanically it is not.
Customer: replied 5 years ago.

SO WHAT NOW?

Expert:  Kenton Guidry replied 5 years ago.
Changing the reversing valve takes a bit of work.

The refrigerant will need to be removed from the condenser via recovery.

Then the valve will have to be removed, a new one installed.

The valve will have to be soldered into place.

Then you will need a vacuum pump to pull the system into a vacuum.

Then the system will need to be charged again.

Do you have the tools to do this?
Customer: replied 5 years ago.

NO TOOLS,NO MONEY....WHAT WEBSITE CAN I FIND THAT WILL HAVE A DRAWING OF THE ENTIRE HEAT PUMP UNIT?

Expert:  Kenton Guidry replied 5 years ago.
Do you have a buddy that has the tools?

What kind of drawing?

Perhaps I can find one.

Customer: replied 5 years ago.

I have basic mechanics tools and cordless drills..But nothing that deals w/the refrigerant and recovery...just some kind of schematic showing where the valve is located

Expert:  Kenton Guidry replied 5 years ago.
That solenoid that you installed sits right on top of the valve.

I'll find you a few pictures and post them here.
Customer: replied 5 years ago.

Will you run what i need to do by me one more time so i can write it down right quick? Thanks for your time and help!

Expert:  Kenton Guidry replied 5 years ago.
Sure I will do that. You are welcome.

Turn the power off to the condenser and furnace via the breakers.

Recover the refrigerant for the system.

Remove the valve cores so you do not melt them.

Disconnect your electrical from the reversing valve.

Use a torch to heat up the welds on the reversing valve and remove the valve from the system.

Install the new valve.

Solder the valve in place.

Use a wet rag to keep the valve cool while you weld.

Pressure test the system with nitrogen.

Pull a vacuum on the system after pressure testing.

Install your electrical back on the valve.

Charge the refrigerant back into the system.

Put everything back together and start your unit back up.

If you have not done this before, I would suggest getting someone to supervise the job.
