Thanks for allowing me to assist you, I am the horse's servant and will do my best to help you with your horse. What is your riding discipline and breed of horse? Ortho Flex saddles are good for distance riding. they come in a variety of tree sizes and options. If you can give me some specifics, I can help you more effectively! Thanks,

Yes, ortho flex saddles are well designed for the laid back shoulder of a MFT. If you are getting a used one, check for the straightness of the tree. If new, be sure to accomodate the width of the withers. Above all, be sure the saddle is placed well back, behind the top of the shoulder blade. The cinch should hang down about a hands width behind the elbow. If it is touching the elbow, it is too far forward. Avoid over padding, this alters saddle fit like wearing too-thick socks in a pair of shoes that fits normally, it makes them too tight. A single wool pad, the dense kind, to protect your horses back is best. A navajo can be used for appearance over top. Listen to your horse, he will tell you if the saddle is working for him or not. Let me know if you have any other specific questions, and I am glad to help! Have a great day.
